The realization of the series entitled “Tricolor” was first of all a project similar to a research: my target was to discover how the national colors of Romania are used in a non-ceremonial context, and this made me take a purposeful and attentive voyage around the place where I live. This approach captured the process of losing the dignity of this symbol, either by its use in a religious context, or by its application to individual properties. This gesture might be interpreted as the effect of the remnants of the previous political regime, represented in the last decade by Gheorghe Funar, the previous mayor of Cluj-Napoca, who initiated the painting of numerous public objects into red, yellow, and blue, Romania’s national colours. |
